Critics Consensus

It may not be as powerful as the 1984 edition, but the 2010 Karate Kid delivers a surprisingly satisfying update on the original.

Audience Member MANY better scenes than the one from 1984, good settings, choreography and soundtrack, the 80s one seems recorded on the street and the only memorable thing it has is the crane scene that nostalgia only helps it. The fight scenes are epic! Definitely watch!!! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/15/24 Full Review Bronwyn D I just saw this on TV- I really enjoyed it!I actually felt like it was more of a Tribute to the Original than just trying to Redo it, which I liked.Jackie Chan was just Awesome in this role as teacher. And I thought Jaden Smith did Great. I also really loved him in The Pursuit of Happiness. He added some new personality & humor.I also really liked the Mom & the Girlfriend.I think they did a good job of balancing the Similar scenes of the Original and adding New touches to this one.Only thing I didn't love: the kids were too young. Would have been better, my opinion, sticking with teenage boys. The fight & training scenes were quite good. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Read all reviews
